ABOUT CARONDELET LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

In August 2010 the Carondelet Leadership Academy opened its doors serving students in grades K through 5.  This opening was thanks to our tireless preparing and planning of our founding board members as well as our dedicated group of teachers and parents. During the summer of 2010 with financial support from IFF we renovated the former St. Boniface School into a 21st century learning environment. This partnership continued with IFF as we renovated and the former rectory building into a Kindergarten center for the 2014-15 school year.

We were also extremely fortunate in our first two years of operation to be the recipient of three major grants: Walton Family Foundation, U.S Department of Education Public Charter Schools, and U.S. Department of Education-Technology, totaling $580,000 to support our school instructional programs. With these funds we were able to create a state of the art Library/Media center, provide every classroom with an interactive whiteboard, purchase lap top computers, iPads, and Google Chrome books for our students.

As a public charter school in Missouri, decisions are made on site so we can best meet the needs of our students and stakeholders. Policies are set by our Governing Board and the day to day operations are carried out by our highly qualified staff. We are energized by the ability to control our destiny. The staff at CLA is dedicated and goes the extra mile on a daily basis. As a public charter school we have the flexibility to improve student achievement and to provide our students with a diverse educational program. Carondelet Leadership Academy is sponsored by the University of Missouri. The support and guidance they provide is critical to our schools mission.

Parent involvement and support is a key to our school success. There are a number of opportunities for parents to become involved in our school. If you are interested in volunteering please talk with your child’s teacher.

I have had the privilege of being the Executive Director of CLA since our opening in 2010. Each year brings new excitement as we offer a balanced educational program with our after school extracurricular activities.   I look forward to what the future holds for our wonderful students and families.

Sincerely,

Our Vision

Our vision is for Carondelet Leadership Academy to be known for its ability to transform the lives of students and for its resolve to incite excellence within the Carondelet community and the city of St. Louis.  Carondelet Leadership Academy will be a premier community asset that not only stems the tide of families moving out of the area, but also attracts families to move into the area because of our high-quality academic program, strong parent and community involvement, and unwavering commitment to a culture of success.  We strive to create a neighborhood school that becomes a magnet for neighborhood activities and is a school of which entire community is proud.

Our Mission

Carondelet Leadership Academy seeks to create a challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success through developmentally appropriate instruction that allows for individual differences and learning styles.  Our school strives to prepare young men and women with a solid foundation of basic academic and social skills, which will ensure success both at the secondary school level and for future participation in post-secondary education and/or the workplace.

We seek to accomplish our mission through the creation of an educational institution utilizing a rigorous curriculum, high quality teachers, a critical thinking/problem solving teaching strategy, and a school culture that encourages and respects.
